Is Your Skin Sensitive, or Just Sensitised?
True sensitive skin is a genetic condition — your skin has thinner stratum corneum (outer skin layer) and more reactive nerve endings. But "sensitised skin" is far more common — it's skin that has become reactive due to overuse of harsh products, particularly chemical soaps with SLS, artificial fragrances, and alcohol.
The good news: sensitised skin can be healed. The protocol: strip back to gentle, natural cleansing and let your skin barrier rebuild.
What Sensitive Skin Needs in a Soap
- Absolutely NO synthetic fragrances (the #1 cause of contact dermatitis)
- No SLS, SLES, or other synthetic surfactants
- No alcohol (drying and irritating)
- No essential oils in high concentrations (citrus oils especially)
- Short, simple ingredient lists
- Soothing actives: aloe vera, oat beta-glucan, chamomile
- pH-balanced formulation (natural cold-process soap)
Best Glow Glitter Option for Sensitive Skin
Our Kesar Diine Oatmilk Shine is the gentlest bar in the collection — oat milk's avenanthramides specifically soothe reactive inflammation, while saffron's antioxidants protect without irritating. It's the closest thing to a true sensitive-skin soap in our range.
For reactive acne-prone sensitive skin, Neem Treasure Aloevera Pleasure is the choice — neem's anti-inflammatory action combined with aloe's soothing properties calms sensitised skin while addressing breakouts.
Sensitive Skin Soap Protocol
- Patch test any new soap on the inner forearm for 24 hours before using on face
- Cleanse ONCE daily (evening only) to begin — let skin acclimatise
- Never rub — lather in hands, apply foam gently with fingertips
- Use cool (not cold or hot) water to rinse
- Pat (never rub) dry with a clean soft cloth
- Immediately apply a fragrance-free, minimal-ingredient moisturiser
